Maintaining a good school and life balance is important. Balancing school and your own life may be hard at the start, and it is easy to get caught up in one or the other. And without help, you can be easily overwhelmed with stress. But fear not, as I have a few tips to help you maintain a good balance.

School and Life Balance

Tip #1: Practice Time Management

Time management is one of the best skills you can learn, and is especially helpful with maintaining a good school and life balance. By practicing time management, you can help prevent things such as procrastination and increase your productivity. Set up calendars and to-do lists to help you keep track on how you spend your time. Review your previous weeks of work and cut back on time that you wasted. Avoid browsing through social media. If it helps, you can also shop for anything online instead of in-person to save time.

Tip #2: Take breaks

Taking breaks often can help to make sure you don’t get too caught up in your homework. Get up and stretch, refill your water, look at something other than your homework or screen (I suggest just looking outside your house and enjoying the nature). By taking breaks you can release any unnecessary stress buildup from your school work.

Tip #3: Focus on your health

This tip is a bit broad, but your health should always be number one (mental health too but don’t use it as an excuse 😉). Make sure to exercise, eat healthy, and consistently hydrate. Also, make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep, as this will ensure your body is well-rested the next day. Recognizing the importance of maintaining your physical health, emotional well-being, and mental fitness is a great step to ensure a school and life balance is achieved.

Tip #4: Break larger tasks into smaller components

By this I don’t mean writing one word and calling it a day. No. Instead of doing the task as a whole in one sitting, just break it down into parts. Let’s say you have to make a presentation, and you have to make 10 slides. Break it down. Finish doing the first 3 slides, then come back to later. Once you’re ready, you can continue making the presentation.

Tip #5: Enjoy doing your work

I tell this to everyone who suffers from maintaining a good school and life balance. Trust me, I understand that school work can be tiring, tedious and downright stressful. But by enjoying doing your work, you can focus and concentrate better in your work because you actually have an interest in doing it.

As always, I hope these tips can help you to maintain a good school and life balance.

Until next time!
